For God
For God. So Loved. The World.
A verse commonly referenced — John 3:16 — how great this truth is, yet somehow, I always manage to neglect the weight of what it is saying to me.
Growing up around the Church, it was so often said that “Jesus died for my sins.” This was a simple truth to me that I seemingly accepted.
Yet later on in high-school, I discovered something in prayer. This seemingly “simple truth” was in fact, not simple at all. If it was so simple, I would be able to comprehend its content.
And somehow, I looked upon the stories of Jesus’ life, forgetting the whole reason behind why He was incarnate.
I forgot that He was driven here solely by the love for His children.
GOD looks at US. Loves US. Then from that love, desires to redeem US.
And yet again,
I am stopped in my tracks,
standing in awe.
You became flesh, just to know me more intimately?
You sought to experience pain, abandonment, and isolation,
For what?
What is it worth?
Yet, in the midst of my feelings of doubt, unworthiness, and utter disbelief,
I am met with Your gentleness.
Your Love.
A Love that would stay silent in the midst of false accusations and a misguided death penalty.
All so that Your Father’s plan would be brought to fruition.
JESUS,
Thank You for so loving me, that You, my LORD, would come down from His throne just to pursue my wandering heart.
