ABIDE.
ABIDE IN ME.
[ John 15 ]
A piece that means so much to me, learning to rest in the heart of the Father.
Abide.
“Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me.
I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.”
Over the past 8 months or so, the Father has slowly been pruning my heart by these verses.
Gently, with my permission, He has pulled back layers of plaque, covering my heart.
One by one, He looks into these lies that I have believe about myself, and believed about Him for so long.
Within this mess, His character is not scandalized.
He rejoices in truth being uncovered.
Despite the pruning being painful, it always proves fruitful. He is a God of His promise.
I have learned of His promise.
He listens.
Over the past 8 months, I have learned to approach Him in all things.
“Jesus, I don’t know how to love this person.”
“Jesus, I feel really alone.”
“Jesus, I don’t feel that you’re listening.”
“Jesus, I can’t see you.”
And my favorite,
“Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief.”
He listens to our heart. And like John, we listen to His. Who am I apart from you, O God?
You are good, You are Father, You are holy, and You are Friend.
