Tend the Garden

Tend the garden of my heart, O God.

Inspired by a view I saw this morning —

Jesus, the gardener, sees our hearts for what they truly are.

For what He made them to be.

He sees them as very good.

As beautiful.

As one of His favorite projects yet.

But He is just getting started.

He is far too wise to fall into the foolishness we bask in, that our hearts will stay this way without effort.

Only with our permission will He step foot into the ground that He calls “holy”.

Yet even when we don’t see it, He is tilling the soil of our heart.

Gently plucking the weeds of this world that do us no good.

So when we feel a tugging,
a pulling,
a stinging,
that causes discomfort,

I will trust that you are paving a way within my heart.

A way for seeds to be planted and for new things to grow.

Thank you, Jesus, for delicately watching over my heart.

Never intruding, but always available.
